ALMOST 1,000 people packed out the Daily Echo recruitment fair at its first ever outing in Poole.

The event, sponsored by the Silly Group, took place at Poole Lighthouse on Thursday and offered job hunters a wide range of local and national companies.

More than 30 employers booked stands, including – for the first time at a Daily Echo recruitment event – the RAF.

One of the event organisers Tracy Hayden said: “This is the first time we’ve held a jobs fair in Poole and this looks just as successful as the jobs fair held in Bournemouth earlier this year.

“In fact, this is bigger and better so we will be coming back to Poole.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for a job or a change in career to meet a wide range of companies face to face to discuss what positions they can offer.

“We have been getting some great feedback from companies and individuals who have attended.

“Lots of the companies who took a stand at Bournemouth have demonstrated their confidence by taking a stand again today.”

Best Training ran a series of workshops on the day, including help with CV writing, interview skills and identifying strengths.

There were also one-to-one sessions with a careers advisor available.

Visitor Alan Clarke, said: “This has been very helpful and constructive.

“I have made good contact with companies and agencies.”

Anne Leaning, agreed: “This has been very helpful and practical.

“I’ve gained some new ideas.”

Companies represented included Anglian Home Improvements, castle Cover, JPMorgan, Lidl, Sue Ryder and Yellow Buses.
