POLICE in the New Forest are appealing for help after lead was stolen from the roof of Café One Hundred at Round Hill in Fordingbridge.
The lead was taken sometime between Friday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 10.
The 3ft by 2ft section of lead flashing was taken from a flat roof and it is believed that an attempt was made at the same time to remove flashing on the same section of roof a few feet away.
PC Josh Deniz said: “It is believed that either the offenders went into this venture unprepared, or that they were disturbed by a member of public.
“This incident took place in the very centre of Fordingbridge at Round Hill and is a prime example of how daring the offender or offenders can be, with no regard for our community and our values.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Deniz at Fordingbridge police station on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
