BE a responsible festival-goer. That’s the message from the organisers of the fourth Bournemouth Air Festival, which takes place between August 18 and 21.
Chiefs are asking visitors to recycle their rubbish, use alternative transport and take care of themselves in the sun.
Jon Weaver, air festival director, said: “This is a massive event for the town and the previous years have been very successful in attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors. Whether they are local, regular or first time visitors, we want them to be impressed with the festival set up.
“We want to build on last year’s successful key green issues, promoting the waste and recycling disposal, and encouraging people to ‘go green’ when travelling to the town.”
To persuade people to dispose of their litter properly, the council, as part of the Green Goals scheme, will be providing 100 extra brightly-coloured bins for recycling and rubbish.
Council street services manager, Stuart Best, added: “We want everyone to enjoy the festival and being responsible and disposing of litter properly goes a long way to achieving that.”
As far as transport goes, there will be a park and ride service available, as well as coaches, buses, trains and cycle routes.
