POLICE say they are still actively investigating allegations of a serious sexual assault on the estate at Canford Heath over a month ago.
A Bournemouth woman in her 20s was left with severe bruising and black eyes following her terrifying ordeal in the early hours of Monday, April 25.
No description of the attacker, who struck on heathland between Warburton Road and the Nuffield Industrial Estate, has been released.
Dorset Police have always stressed that the investigation has been focused on hunting for evidence and not a suspect. But detectives are still yet to make any arrests and are said to be exploring all lines of enquiry.
Officers, including forensic experts, spent two days scouring the area of heath for clues after receiving reports of the assault at around 7am, just hours after it took place.
Residents in Warburton Road, which runs off Adastral Road, alarmed by the forensic search, expressed concern at news of the serious attack.
A police spokesman told the Daily Echo: “Detectives investigating this attack continue to follow a number of leads.
“We are awaiting the results of forensic tests, which may take a number of weeks.”
