MORE than 20 acts have signed up to play at the first Wimborne Folk Festival ‘Fringe’.
An eclectic blend of bluegrass, traditional folk, cowpunk, hoedown, country, Dubstep and reggae is planned for The White Hart, in Corn Market, over the weekend.
There’s a world exclusive with the Fable of the Bees’ first performance, plus old favourites the Skimmity Hitchers, Paul James from Blowzabella, Andrew MacMahon from 1000 Mexicans and Steve Crickett from the Phil Beer Band.
The Emerald Guard, from Wimborne, who are booked to play Camp Bestival at Lulworth Castle next month, will also play.
Organiser Chris Brown, also the town crier, said: “There’s a hefty line up which has our juices running.
“There are debut performances by rising stars on Saturday, and wrapping up the event on Sunday afternoon will be the legendary Pronghorn, founders of the Endorse It In Dorset Festival at Sixpenny Handley.”
Comperes and DJs include Allie Kay and DJ Dapper Dan and the Maccasa Man.
Real ales, a cocktail bar and BBQ will also be available at the event.
Performances are split between the lounge bar and a marquee.
Admission is through the pub car park gate.
Entry is £3 in advance, or £5 on Saturday night.
