A FUMING cyclist launched a frenzied road rage attack on a motorist in a supermarket car park.

The angry biker, dressed in cyclist attire and helmet, accused the car driver of cutting him up before landing a flurry of punches.

He repeatedly hit the middle-aged motorist in the head, while the victim’s shocked teenaged daughter watched on from the family car.

The driver was left stunned and nursing facial bruising following the assault in the Lidl car park, Blandford Road, Hamworthy.

He did not require hospital treatment. Police say the cyclist flew into a rage after he pulled up alongside the car as it turned into the car park.

The driver got out after the cyclist accused him of cutting him up. Moments later, the rider lashed out.

Constable Benjamin McSorley, of Poole Police, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident to contact me urgently.”

It took place in broad daylight, around 5.20pm, last Monday, when the supermarket would have been packed with shoppers.

Officers only released details of the incident yesterday.

PC McSorley said: “The victim was left with bruising to his face following this assault. He had parked his car in the Lidl car park in Hamworthy when an irate cyclist accused him of driving across his path at a nearby junction. When the victim confronted the cyclist, he was punched several times to his face.”

The cyclist was white, aged between 35 and 45 years old, and between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall.

Witnesses should call Dorset Police on 01202 222222.
