A BICYCLE tribute to cyclist Rob Jefferies, who was killed in an accident close to Wareham, has been chained to a spot near the crash site.
Mr Jefferies, a member of Poole Wheelers Cycling Club and a fierce competitor in the UK riding scene, took part in a series of high level track and time trial events. The married father-of-one was well known in the world of UK cycling.
A cycle, painted white and adorned with floral bouquets and messages of sympathy, has been chained to a nearby road sign.
One message simply states, “Rest in Peace Uncle Robert”, while another reads, “Hope you are somewhere nice.”
Mr Jefferies, who was in his early 40s, suffered fatal injuries after being involved in a collision with a car on the A351 near Wareham at 8.10pm on May 26.
Police say a Renault Clio, being driven by a teenager, was involved in the crash.
• An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Witnesses should call 01202 222 222.
