A 28-year-old man is recovering from multiple serious wounds following a terrifying street attack in the Boscombe area of Bournemouth.

The victim, who is not being identified by police, was assaulted with a sharp instrument, possibly a razor, as he walked near the junction of Cecil Road and Sea Road.

He was treated at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital for face, neck and stomach injuries following the unprovoked assault at about 10.20pm on Saturday, June 4.

His condition is described as not life-threatening.

Detective Inspector Becky Riggs of Bournemouth CID said: “The victim was walking along Cecil Road when a man suddenly approached him and attacked him with a sharp instrument, possibly a razor.

“Clearly this was a terrifying experience and it is fortunate that the outcome was not far worse.”

The attacker is white, around 30-years-old, with a shaved head and was wearing grey shorts at the time of the assault.

DI Riggs added: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this assault and indeed anyone who saw any unusual or suspicious activity in the Cecil Road area that night to contact us as soon a possible.

“Any information, not matter how insignificant it may appear to be, may help me trace the man responsible for this despicable incident.”
