SPORTSMEN and women in Christchurch were bowled over by the success of their recent open days.
Members of Christchurch Bowling Club organised a series of open afternoons at the picturesque site next to Christchurch Castle to try and encourage more people to take up the sport.
Martin Davies, one of the organisers, said: "It was a great success. We had around 50 people come and try out. Of course the glorious weather helped out.
"At one point we had all the greens in operation and nine students from the Anglo Continental Language School came along as well.
"There were seven different nationalities playing - it was wonderful."
