MARKING the 55th anniversary of John Osborne’s seminal play Look Back in Anger, Creative Cow will bring their production of it to Poole Lighthouse on June 16.
First performed in the 1950s, Look Back In Anger transformed English theatre. Its raw realism made John Osborne’s name and he soon became known as the original “angry young man”.
“We’re doing this play because it’s an iconic classic of British theatre,” says Poole-born Katherine Senior, one of the founding members of Creative Co.
“Audiences are in for an evening of real, no-holds-barred theatre.”
The original version of Look Back in Anger is a largely autobiographical piece based on Osborne’s unhappy marriage to Pamela Lane. It focuses on a middle class love triangle between a discontented young man called Jimmy Porter, his unassuming wife Alison and her cheating best friend, Helena.
Look Back in Anger is on at Poole Lighthouse between June 16 and 18 – tickets cost £15.
