A FAMILY stage show will be held at Poole Lighthouse this weekend, featuring former X Factor winner Steve Brookstein.

Dubbed Summer Spectacular, the event has been organised by Pop 4 Diabetes and is being held as part of National Diabetes Week.

Local singer-songwriter Shane Board will also be performing at the event along with Twist and Pulse from Britain’s Got Talent and Darren Symes, the world champion hip hop dancer.

“Shane Board is the inspiration behind Pop 4 Diabetes,” says Jane Jones, a spokesperson for the charity.

“Despite being diagnosed with type one at the age of 10 he has dedicated his life to fundraising to find a cure for diabetes and uses his own experiences from the past 12 years to help other people to come to terms with it.”

Shane will also perform a new single called Your Day Will Come.

“This is a great chance for anyone affected by diabetes to come along and see what is offer and learn more about insulin pump therapy with lots of fun and games and stalls for the whole family,” added Jane.

The day runs from 2pm till 6pm and is free entry to everyone. The evening entertainment (including sets from Steve and Shane) starts at 7pm and costs £15 for adults and £10 for under 16s.
