THE Bournemouth rehab centre that treated troubled football star Paul Gascoigne has added to its services.

Providence Projects has successfully applied to change the use of one of its sites in Ophir Gardens, Springbourne, so that a resident carer can be there.

The centre says it will mean better care and services for people undergoing treatment, while the community will have the reassurance of a member of staff being on site.

Founder and chief executive officer Steve Spiegel thanked Tanner and Tilley Town Planners, who worked on the change of use, and added: “This approval is marvellous for Providence Projects and will provide a more structured environment for our clients at this site.

“It will enable us to provide help to more people in their darkest times.”

A not-for-profit organisation, Providence Projects, offers care, counselling and rehabilitation for people with drug and alcohol problems and a range of other disorders, such as anxiety and depression.

The organisation also helped to arrange a show that involved Gascoigne last Saturday night.

Paul Gascoigne was joined on stage at the Pavilion by fellow Spurs and England great Jimmy Greaves.

It was originally suggested by experts at the Providence Projects as part of Gascoigne’s rehabilitation.

The Gazza and Greaves Show included an interview with promoter Terry Baker and the chance to ask questions of the two stars.
