ENTERPRISING students from a Dorset school beat off tough competition to win awards at a regional business competition.
A team of four from Corfe Hills was named best financially managed company and came third overall in the South West Young Enterprise competition.
The team, called Estupendo, was one of 20 formed in schools in Dorset last September and given the task of creating a company and running it for a year.
After winning the Dorset contest, they went on to represent the county in the regional contest.
Estupendo set up and managed a discount card scheme for businesses and residents in the Broadstone area and were advised by Sasha Morgan from New Driver and Ian Glen from the 288 Group.
Sasha, who took part in Young Enterprise when she was at school, said: “I know that the experience of developing and running your own company is a skill that lasts long after the competition has ended and that the lessons learnt are lifelong ones.”
Young Enterprise plans to run the competition again from September and is looking for volunteers to advise the young people who get involved.
Anyone who is interested and can spare two hours per week can get more information from young-enterprise.org.uk and should contact Hannah.cook@yesw. org.uk for details of how to get involved.
