TWO people were led to safety after a flat caught fire on Saturday night.
Fire crews from Springbourne, Redhill and Westbourne were called to Christchurch Road, East Cliff, shortly before 9pm.
They found smoke coming from the four-storey building and called for more fire engines from Christchurch, Poole and Ferndown, as well as a high-rise ladder from Westbourne.
A Red Cross support vehicle was also sent to the scene to help residents affected.
The fire was found in the kitchen of a ground floor flat and was put out by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.
Two residents were led to safety and one man was treated on the scene by ambulance crews for minor injuries.
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said that the cause was cooking that caught light. The kitchen was left severely damaged, while other parts of the building suffered smoke damage.
