OFFICERS travelled to Nike in America in a bid to identify the bloody footprints left in Heather Barnett’s flat by her killer.
A Nike expert, who appeared as a witness in the OJ Simpson trial, revealed the footprint belonged to a pair of Nike Terra-Part trainers, which was produced in four basic colours - black, white, blue and red.
His information revealed the trainer worn by the killers was between size nine and ten.
Extensive enquiries were made to find out where such a shoe was sold in the UK and who bought them.
Detectives also discovered such a shoe was sold on the black market and there was no way of finding out who to.
Det Supt Cooper said: “It was a massive task and unfortunately didn’t get us anywhere.”
