A SPECTACULAR, action-packed, fun-filled event is promised at one of the south coast’s best summer sporting and social events, the British Beach Polo Championships.
Now in its fourth year on the golden sands of Sandbanks, Poole, the two day event on July 8 and 9 promises to be the best yet.
“We are all very excited about this year’s event – it’s going to be spectacular,” said organiser Johnny Wheeler from Sandpolo Ltd.
“For the first time in the event’s history the finest polo players from England and Australia will battle it out on the sand.
“Headed up by England’s Jack Kidd and Glen Gilmore from Australia, it will be a game that no-one will want to miss.
“We also have the TeamBath and Oakley UK professional volleyball players, including Olympic hopefuls Tom Lord and Robin Miedzybrodzki. The line-up combines all the best in sand sport – and what better beach to play on than Sandbanks?
“The evening’s entertainment is also amazing and has everything from live music to world renowned DJs and artists.
“The event this year is already creating a buzz on the street and we are expecting people not just from the UK, but worldwide, to visit us during the two day event.
“The British Beach Polo Championships really is the hottest ticket in town at the moment and we are really pleased that people are getting so excited about the event – we can’t wait!”
Celebrities will join sports fans and party people, including the cast from Channel 4’s hit reality show Made in Chelsea, saddling up and playing a chukka or two in a charity match against professionals including Jamie Morrison and Charlie Woolridge.
After the day’s sport the beach comes alive with music. Friday sees the Wave 105 Beach Polo Party with DJs Steve Power and Mark Collins, with chart-topping band The Hoosiers playing a live set.
Saturday’s event-ending party will see top London club Amika take charge, with a fantastic line-up of live music from Pola, X Factor finalist John Wilding, Bloomfield Avenue and top international DJ Colin ‘StarRocker’ Pereira.
