BOURNEMOUTH West MP Conor Burns is campaigning for funding to allow local schoolchildren to visit the Olympic Park in London.
He has written to Lord Coe about his concerns that visits to the site may only be available to youngsters from London schools.
And he has asked for money saved from the Olympic Stadium being under budget to be used for a travel allowance for schools outside London.
“I have been a firm supporter of the games since we entered the bidding process and next summer promises to be a truly transformative time for many young people across the country” he said.
“I was very pleased to hear that it is possible for schools to be given tours around the Olympic Park but I am concerned that the current set-up heavily favours schools from the London area.
“It would be great to get children from around Bournemouth on a tour of the site but the cost means that it’s simply not affordable for a lot of families.”
