PHONES lines in Ringwood were knocked out after a “deliberate attack” on a BT cable in Salisbury on Friday morning.
The attack left 16,000 phone lines in Ringwood, Salisbury, Andover, Winchester and Harestock affected as well as 20,000 broadband connections.
Residents in Merley, Bearwood and West Moors have also reported problems to the Daily Echo.
Police in Salisbury are investigating following the attack.
A spokesperson for BT said: “There has been a deliberate attack on BT underground cables in Salisbury.
“A team of engineers are working to restore the lines as quickly as possible and will keep any disruption to an absolute minimum.
“We are hopeful that the majority of lines will be up and running by the end of Friday.”
He could not elaborate on the details of the attack.
