A WHEELIE good time was had by all at the New Milton Pedal Car Grand Prix yesterday.
The event in New Milton, sponsored by Ringwood Brewery, saw more than 250 competitors and 52 pedal cars take part in the two-hour endurance race around the town centre circuit.
The race also saw CBBC presenters Ed Petrie and Ian Stirling racing against each other for their own trophy with the New Milton Round Table and Team Phoenix teams respectively.
And it was Ian who came out on top.
The Christchurch Bicycle Club team won the overall race.
There were also five ladies’ teams and 12 junior teams competing for their own trophies, with Squeals on Wheels taking the honours in the ladies’ event and Swebbelli Racing for the juniors.
Event organiser Conrad Curtis said: “It (the turnout) was more than ever, it was huge. There were at least 5,000 people, probably more.
“It’s so much fun, people have got into the spirit of it now and understand what it’s about. There’s a great spirit and there’s so many cars taking part.
“It’s great for the town.”
