SPARKS are expected to fly at the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Firework Proms in Meyrick Park next month.
The performance is returning once again for two evenings filled with excitement, picnics and fireworks.
Kirill Karabits, the BSO’s dynamic principal conductor, will conduct ‘A Russian Festival’ on Friday August 5, with some of the greatest music selected from his homeland including Prokofiev’s powerful Romeo and Juliet, Borodin’s Prince Igor and Khachaturian’s Spartacus.
The Saturday will take audiences on a groovy journey back to the disco era with its Symphonic ‘Disco Spectacular’ evening, bringing alive the music of Gloria Gaynor, Boney M and the Village People.
To make this event extra funky, the BSO have invited four West End singers to accompany them.
Annie Skates – best known for her role as vocal coach on TV show the X Factor, will join Lance Ellington – a regular singer on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, Emma Kershaw who has played a number of leading roles in musicals at the West End, and Andrew Playfoot – another fantastic singer and performer, regularly appearing on film soundtracks.
The fun and picnicking will begin at 6pm and the music will start at 8pm.
The evening will end with a firework display and choreographed fire cannons.
