DO YOU know this man?
Detectives urgently want to speak to him after his young son was allegedly snatched from a bus stop in Canford Cliffs, Poole.
Witnesses say the father, pictured here getting onto a number 50 bus soon after the incident in Haven Road on Saturday July 2, managed to catch up with the kidnapper in De Mauley Road and grabbed his child back.
In an unusual move, Dorset Police have issued a picture of the father and urged him to come forward.
The alarm was raised at around 4pm by a man dialling 999 on his mobile phone to report a kidnap.
When officers arrived on scene, a number of witnesses gave similar accounts.
They told police the father and his son, described as blond-haired and between four and six years old, had got on the bus just a few minutes after the drama.
Detective Constable James Taylor, of Poole and Bournemouth CID, said: “We have not been able to trace the boy’s father so far.
“By releasing this CCTV image we hope to identify him and would urge him or anyone who recognises him to contact police as soon as possible.”
Poole man Ryan Merna, 24, Elms Avenue, Poole, appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court on Monday charged with kidnapping a child and was remanded in custody. He is expected to enter a plea on September 19.
