NOMINATIONS are being sought to find a member of the community who has a heart of gold.

The Daily Echo-backed Pride of Bournemouth Award will honour someone who has made an outstanding contribution to his or her community or displayed bravery.

The shortlisted nominees will join Martin Clunes at an awards night and also take home an exclusive Wild in Art lion cub.

The annual awards are being supported by those behind the art event, which has seen dozens of elaborately-decorated lion sculptures displayed across the area.

Organiser Clare Hirst said: “It is wonderful that as a public art event showcasing the wonderful talent and diversity in our community, Pride of Bournemouth has also given its support to our annual hero awards.

“Reflecting courage, protection and leadership, lions are the perfect symbol for these awards.”

The night will take place at the Pavilion on September 18, when the Pride of Bournemouth Lions will be auctioned off for Julia’s House and the Born Free Foundation.

Nominations are needed in a number of categories including those who have improved the lives of others, put their lives at risk to save others or those who have made a positive difference to the environment in their local community.

Details and entry forms are at bournemouth2026.org.uk/ pride-of-bournemouth-awards, or can be obtained by calling 01202 456849.

The deadline for entries is July 25.

• There’s still time to enter the Beales Pride in Bournemouth children’s writing competition.
