A ROBBER who threatened two terrified female members of staff in a Bournemouth post office has been jailed for four years.
Benjamin Daly, 27, of Prince of Wales Road, Bournemouth, entered Redhill Drive Post Office in Hillview Road just before closing time on Thursday December 16 and threatened the staff behind the counter.
He told them he had a gun, although there were no reports a gun was seen, and demanded they hand over money.
The two members of staff were forced to hand over £1,300 from the safe.
They raised the alarm and police arrived, sealing off the post office for examination.
Police officers carried out house to house enquiries and the description of the robber was circulated.
Daly was arrested on December 30 last year and charged with robbery.
He appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday and was sentenced to four years behind bars.
Yesterday a Post Office spokesperson said: “We welcome the sentence handed down in this case.
“This was a very distressing incident and it was a terrifying ordeal for everyone involved as they went about their business serving the local community.”
