POLICE seized a large quantity of cannabis plants in a raid on a house in a residential area of Bournemouth on Wednesday evening.
A police officer on patrol became suspicious of the address in Churchill Road, in Springbourne, when he noticed a strong, suspicious smell coming from the property.
On closer inspection of the house he could see bright lighting through the window and he could also hear the noise of fans.
Officers forced entry into the house where they discovered the plants as well as various other cannabis growing paraphernalia, including UV lighting. Although there was evidence someone had been living at the property no one was there at the time of the raid and no arrests were made.
Police have now called for help from the public in unearthing similar cannabis factories in the conurbation.
The public are encouraged to look out for tell-tale signs, including extra fortification of houses such as fences, blacked out windows, or blinds that are always closed.
Tips for landlords to be aware of are a sudden surge in electricity bills or alterations to cabling.
