A BOURNEMOUTH chippy can keep its licence as long as it has bouncers manning the door on a Friday and Saturday night.

This is one of a number of new conditions that were imposed on The Chippy in Old Christchurch Road at a review hearing of Bournemouth Borough Council’s licensing board on Tuesday.

Philip Day of Bournemouth-based licensing specialists, Horsey Lightly Fynn, said the board agreed The Chippy could retain its licence after a number of conditions were added in agreement with the premises licence holder Pauline Barnes and Dorset Police.

One is to have a door supervisor working on Friday and Saturday nights from 11pm until close. A supervisor will also be required on New Years Eve and the Sunday prior to bank holiday Mondays.

Others include:

• To have operational CCTV

• Staff training

• Keeping an incident log

• Not to serve anyone who behaves in a disorderly fashion

• Notices erected asking people to leave quietly

• No alcohol, glasses or bottles to be removed from the premises

• The Chippy joins the Townwatch Radio Scheme

The licensing board was asked to do a full review following an application by Dorset Police.

The police called for a review following an incident in June when manager Yuksel Hacipasaoglu is alleged to have thrown hot oil over a customer.

Mr Hacipasaoglu was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and released on police bail.

Three others were arrested – a 29-year-old from Kent for affray, a 29-year-old from Erith for affray and a 28-year-old from Oxford for provocation of violence.

Interim conditions were then imposed on Mr Hacipasaoglu entering the premises.

These have now been lifted.
