THE fundraising is well under way, we raised a fantastic £465 and had a brilliant night. I could have sold loads more tickets and most people who attended asked when the next one will be.
The venue have said we won't have to pay a hire charge next time, because we put so much money behind the bar it was worth their while doing it! I don't know what that says about our quizzers but I'm not knocking it!
Before the night started my Mum said to me she didn't care where her team came as long as they beat my brother's (he's a bit of a know-all ;-) ). Mum & Matt's team came in joint first place and Mum's team won the tie-breaker!!! I was just happy not to have come last (out of 9 teams, my team came 7th).
On Saturday (1st) my team took turns to stand in Saxon Square with collection buckets, leaflets on breast health, stickers and balloons. We had great fun in the glorious sunshine and met some very interesting and lovely people.
We spread the breast awareness word, encouraging many women to check their breasts regularly so they know what's normal & what's not. We were also thrilled to raise a further £170.
We are now busy organising our annual coffee morning. This year we are going big! It will be held at Kings Park Primary School hall on Thursday 27th October from 10am-12noon.
We have collected some lovely raffle prizes from very generous local businesses, we will have a tombola, cakes, a second hand book stall, handicrafts, fun for the children and lots more.
It's amazing how much organisation goes into such an event and i have to confess to feeling a little stressed! However, it should be a lovely morning and I'm hoping to raise a lot of money.
I will finish here with a big urge to you all to be breast aware. Knowing what feels normal and getting anything abnormal checked out REALLY could save your life - it's not worth being complacent.
