FIREFIGHTERS used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a woman from a car involved in a collision on the A31 on Friday evening.

Eight firefighters and a fire officer from Wimborne are on the scene between the Merley House and Canford Bottom roundabouts.

Two fire engines were sent following 999 calls shortly before 5pm.

The collision, between a blue Daewoo and a blue Honda civic, caused rush hour tail backs in the area.

The road has now re-opened and the female driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
