GRANGE Hill-style drama has moved into the 21st century thanks to a new internet school production starring Bournemouth pupils.

‘Darton High’ has been made for the YouTube generation with the hope it will be popular enough to make it on to TV.

The series follows the merger of a posh school and a rough and ready one, and has been filmed in Bournemouth and Southampton.

The first episode is available at the company’s website and on YouTube, where the 11 minute long, high definition clip, has racked up around 1,700 hits.

Youngstar Productions said the second episode would go online on November 30 and they have been shooting the third, s et around the Christmas disco, partly at Annunciation Hall in Charminster.

Jack Peckham-White, 15, a Meyrick Park resident and student at St Peters, plays the part of a popular boy who doesn’t get on with a newcomer.

He said: “It’s been a really exciting experience. Each episode takes about two days to shoot. It was amazing to see myself on the internet.

“I think it will succeed and hopefully it will open new doors for me.”

Chamina Eaton, 15, from Bishop of Winchester School, played Katie, and may have a future part as another character.

She said: “It was pretty cool to see it online. My friends have been saying it’s really good.

“I hope it goes on TV because that’s what we have all been working towards.”

Mollie Souza from Lilliput in Poole plays a teacher, the head of humanities.

Youngstar is inviting 11-20 year-olds to take part in the third episode, and young bands with original material to star in a ‘Battle of the Bands’ contest.

A spokesman said: “We hope by the time we make the fourth episode we will have secured funding to be able to continue to nurture local talent and put the south coast on the map.”
