A SECOND attempt to smash a world dance record will take place in Bournemouth on February 12.

The Zumba Smash 2 event will take place at the BIC with instructors Cat Fowler and Tanya Bright leading the dancers.

Following an earlier attempt by the Lewis Manning Hospice and the Wessex Autistic Society, the two charities have joined forces again to try to break the record for the biggest Zumba class ever.

They are aiming to get 2,012 participants and are appealing to the 750 people who took part last time to return for the second attempt and bring along some friends.

Maria Tidy, fundraising manager at Lewis-Manning Hospice said: “Whether you are part of the Zumba craze, or a beginner intrigued to find out what it’s all about, we would love for you to come along.

“It’s a great opportunity to get fit in time for Valentine’s Day, be part of a Guinness World Record, and raise vital funds.”

The Zumba Smash 2 will be held in Windsor Hall and doors open at 9.30am and the class will begin at 11.30am.

Tickets cost £5. This price includes a 30-minute easy to follow Zumba class and a 45-minute celebratory class.

Participants must be 11 years old or over, and those who attended the first Zumba Smash event in October can enter for free.

• Instructor Cat Fowler will also be hosting her first book launch the day before the event at The Littledown Centre between 2pm and 4pm in aid of The Wessex Autistic Society.

The book is called ‘Sweet Jasmine, Cakes and Magic’.
