The £5.7m scheme at Canford Bottom, turning it into a ‘hamburger junction’ with around 18 sets of lights, has already proved controversial.
The road will cut straight through the roundabout.
It is being paid for by the government to improve the road network and the journey time from London to Weymouth ahead of the Olympics.
But many residents say the project is a waste of money and hugely disruptive.
Local MP Chris Chope has branded the scheme “a white elephant.”
Seven weeks of road closures began last week. Ham Lane and Wimborne Road West, on the Ferndown side are closed.
All four local roads will be shut from February 17-March 8, when Wimborne Road West, into Wimborne, and Canford Bottom follow suit.
Ham Lane and Wimborne Road West to Ferndown will then re-open, leaving Wimborne Road West, to Wimborne, off limits until March 23.
