A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being cut free from her car by firefighters on Saturday morning.

The black Vauxhall Astra hatchback, registered to a Poole owner, came off Ringwood Road near Longham Bridge, at about 9.40am as it was travelling towards Longham.

The car hit trees and came to rest on its side with the woman trapped.

Fire crews from Poole and Ferndown were on the scene within eight minutes.

The road was partially closed between the Longham and Bear Cross roundabouts. The woman’s injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Meanwhile, a driver spent up to an hour trapped in a crashed car in freezing conditions on Friday night.

He was in a Renault Clio, registered to a Wimborne address, that was found on Stapehill Road in Ferndown at around 11.48pm, near the junction with Ham Lane.

Police said the vehicle was believed to have rolled over during the crash but it was found on its wheels.

The man suffered leg and arm injuries and he was taken to Poole Hospital.
