WE’RE in the throes of awards season and silent film The Artist proved it can make a big noise when it picked up seven awards at the Baftas on Sunday.
The romantic black and white movie, which harks back to the golden age of cinema in the late 1920s and early 1930s, won Best Film, Best Director and Leading Actor.
The award for Outstanding Actress went to Meryl Streep for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in the controversial biopic The Iron Lady.
The screen adaptation of John le Carre’s British spy novel, Tinker Tailor Soldier, won Best British Film.
John Hurt was presented the award for Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema, while director Martin Scorsese was given the Bafta Fellowship.
There’s just under two weeks to go until the Oscars dazzle us from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, but we’re getting into the awards season spirit by giving you the chance to vote for your favourite film.
