DORSET Police has released more information as flowers continue to be placed outside Portchester School in memory of pupil Kyle Rees.
The force said tonight a 16-year-old arrested on suspicion of manslaughter has been released on bail until the end of May.
Detective Chief Inspector Kevin Connolly said officers would would continue speaking to teachers and pupils about several lines of enquiry.
At the school, there are more than 100 bouquets of flowers and many colourful handmade cards and posters paying tribute to the popular 16-year-old.
Pupils gathered in quiet tribute to their tragic classmate Kyle Rees as they arrived at Portchester School on Wednesday morning.
As the media looked on, youngsters surrounded the mass of flowers outside the school before classes began for the day.
They hugged and consoled each other as a quiet atmosphere descended over the school gates.
One classmate wrote: “Kyle Rees we will miss you very much. We will never forget you.”
Other tributes included: “RIP Kyle, missed but never forgotten”, “Rest in peace Kyle. I will miss you. Gone but never forgotten”, “Kyle you were a lovely lad, you are dearly missed”, “You were loved very much by everyone and you will be in our lives forever.”
Groups of teenage boys, along with girls from neighbouring Avonbourne, were gathered in front of the tributes, many of them in tears.
Others were shouting “RIP” and taking photographs on their mobile phones.
Posters were also placed around the school grounds.
Executive headteacher Debbie Godfrey-Phaure looked visibly shaken as she stood watching the students, accompanied by a police officer.
She has been head of Avonbourne for several years but has only recently taken over the reins at Portchester, a specialist sports college.
Younger pupils were looking out of classroom windows to see what was going on.
Nearby residents said they had not been informed about what was going on but one said: “There was an unusual amount of noise coming from the school on Monday afternoon, near the end of the school day.”
