A WINNING design by a 10-year-old schoolboy took pride of place on the concourse of AFC Bournemouth’s Seward Stadium at the weekend.
The club’s community sports trust has been working with more than 1,000 school children to deliver the Football League’s Respect programme and asked youngsters to create an image embodying the spirit of the “beautiful game”.
Winner Harry Whitton, 10, of Christchurch Junior School, said; “I didn’t think I was going to win and it is really amazing that I have. I thought two fists together was a different kind of respect, and I saw that could make the ‘e’. ”
Dominik Kaczmarek, PE co-ordinator and class teacher at Christchurch Junior School said: “We are really proud of Harry. The campaign has changed our ethos in the school.
“We use it in our lessons to promote respect and it has really helped us.
The Respect scheme, run by all 72 Football League clubs, reaches more than 85,000 children a year and aims to promote the importance of respect in sport and society.
