CORFE Castle businessman Michael Turner is back in Dorset after appearing in a Budapest court.
Michael Turner, aged 30, and co-accused Jason McGoldrick, were cross examined by Hungarian prosecutors for almost three hours on Wednesday.
Their court appearance in the Hungarian capital marked the end of a marathon wait to prove their innocence.
The pair were originally extradited to Hungary in November 2009 for what they thought was to help police with their investigations, following the collapse of their Budapest-based marketing company four years earlier.
But they were both imprisoned, without charge, in a former KGB jail until their release without explanation four months later. On Monday they flew back to Budapest for the midweek court hearing.
Jago Russell, chairman of human rights charity Fair Trials International, said: “Michael was the victim of a shocking misuse of Europe’s fast-track extradition laws and suffered appalling treatment during four months he spent needlessly in a Hungarian jail.
“The time for talking is over – the UK government must now reform our flawed extradition laws.”
After cross examination the case was adjourned until June 7.
