TWO people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a head-on collision in North Dorset on Monday evening.
The collision took place on the B3081 at Tollard Royal around 9.21pm.
A 38-year-old man from Sixpenny Handley was driving a red Ford Fiesta in the direction of the village when the vehicle collided with a silver coloured Peugeot 206, driven by a 58-year-old woman from Shaftesbury.
Both drivers sustained serious injuries and were treated at the scene by an off-duty nurse and first aiders before paramedics and fire fighters arrived.
They were taken to Salisbury Hospital where their conditions are described as "serious but stable".
The road remained closed for several hours while police examined the scene and the vehicles.
Witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
