JUST how do people identify cash in greetings cards, and is it possible to prevent your money being stolen?
Those who have been caught stealing in the past admit to targeting cards addressed to “Miss” or “Master” as they are more likely to be children’s birthday cards with cash inside them.
It is also believed that cash can sometimes be seen through envelopes when held up to the light. The best advice is to ensure any money is placed in between paper or inside the card so it cannot be seen, always send a cheque rather than cash and never coins.
If you do want to send anything of value, or a large amount of cash, it is well worth using the Royal Mail’s Special Delivery service option, as the item will be logged on arrival at a mail centre and stored in a secure area with CCTV.
