A TWELVE-year-old girl reported seeing a semi-naked man on her way home from school in Corfe Mullen.
The Lockyer’s Middle School pupil was walking along Wareham Road when she spotted the man, who was naked from the waist down.
He was sitting in a car by the junction of Blythe Road, texting on a mobile phone.
Headteacher Mark Legge told the Daily Echo: “Incidents like this are rare but we do take them seriously so we sent out an alert to all parents to ensure everyone in the school community is vigilant.
“I will be working with children to reinforce the 'stranger danger' message and the police have made a number of visits to the area.”
Other local schools have also been informed, he said.
The man, thought to be between 40-50 years old, did not approach the girl during the incident on Thursday, February 22.
He is described as white, chubby, broad shouldered and with short brown receding hair. He was wearing a red V-neck top.
The car is described as a silver four-door Peugeot.
A member of staff from Lockyer’s reported the incident to Dorset Police on Monday .
Parents' reactions
Mega Van Wyk, from Canford Magna, always picks her 11-year-old daughter up. “We got a letter home from school on Monday,” she said. “Obviously it’s worrying that there’s a strange man about.”
Denise Coad, from Lytchett Matravers, was also at the school gates. “We had a few letters about men who were stopping children on their way to school last term,” she said.
Jackie Dickerson and her 10-year-old daughter live opposite Blythe Road, where the incident happened. “I couldn’t believe it when I read the letter,” she said. “It was frightening.”
Poole dad Paul Illidge, who has a 12-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy, said: “There have been similar things in the same area. Some parents haven’t got a choice but to let their kids walk home.”
