TEN black bags were filled with rubbish after a litter pick at Christchurch Quay.
Nineteen volunteers took part in the organised event in and around the quay as part of the Litter Free Coast and Sea Campaign, designed to keep beaches and riverside areas clean and tidy.
Abi Meharg, from the beaches and open spaces team at Christchurch Borough Council, said: “The majority of the litter we found was crisp and sweet wrappers and the hot-spots were the car park, the shelters and, amazingly close to the litter bins.
“It’s obvious that there are some people who think it’s acceptable to just drop their litter wherever they’ve been sitting and can’t be bothered to walk over to a litter bin even if there’s one close by.
“I’d like to thank everyone who helped with the litter pick.”
