AROUND 60 people attended a public meeting to discuss how to stop the Boscombe Centre for Community Arts (BCCA) from being replaced by housing.
The event was organised by the Friends of the BCCA and people met at the Portman Hotel on Ashley Road in Boscombe on Monday night.
The BCCA, on Haviland Road, has been empty since the council decided it was too expensive to repair in 2007.
The site has been transferred to Bournemouth 2026 , which has applied for planning permission for 11 affordable properties.
Linda Ni’Man, from The Friends of the BCCA, said: “People at the meeting were very upset that the council and Bournemouth 2026 are investing in more houses there instead of around Boscombe Central, the most deprived area in the south west of England.
“Boscombe needs more infrastructure, particularly community centres.”
She added: “The meeting was open to people putting forward suggestions and sharing information.
