STUDENTS on Brockenhurst College’s Uniformed Public Services courses got a taste of what it takes to be a police officer at a special event.

Officers put students through their paces during a mock assessment day at the college, which included a written paper, talks and practical demonstrations.

“It’s been helpful,” said second year student James Cairncross. “I’ve been to a presentation by the firearms unit, which wasn’t something I’d considered before.

“I’m definitely considering the police as a career now.”
