IT has been just over a week since the tragic death of Kyle Rees at Portchester School.
Mercifully for all concerned, family, friends and the school, at least one part of the ordeal has been brought to a swift conclusion.
The police have carried out a detailed inquiry in the past seven days or so and have concluded what some people of course knew from the outset.
That it was a tragic accident and there was no criminality involved.
It will hopefully be of some comfort to Kyle’s family that there was no malicious intent behind the tragedy, though it will not lessen their grief and sense of loss.
Over the weekend, Kyle’s mum and dad paid heartfelt tributes to their son.
For the school too, this will help the process of beginning to move on, coming to terms with the events of last Monday and thinking about a permanent tribute to a popular and bright young man.
