A GROUP that gives young carers a well-earned break is the latest to benefit from the Daily Echo/Yellow Buses Carbon Stoppers initiative.
Bournemouth Young Carers works with younger people who look after someone in their family with illness, disability or addiction.
It has just under 200 young people on its books, ranging in age from five to 18.
The group, which is part of the Action for Children charity, is part funded by Bournemouth Borough Council but relies on donations for the rest of its money.
Sarah Norris, Co-ordinator of Bournemouth Young Carers, said the £250 Carbon Stoppers’ donation would help pay for days out to the likes of Avon Heath Country Park.
“We were amazed to be chosen and very grateful.
“The donation will make a real difference to our young carers.”
Each week Yellow Buses hold a Thank You Thursday when every trip taken on the day contributes to a separately administered community chest.
The bus company has pledged a minimum donation of £50 per week to the Carbon Stoppers fund with Daily Echo readers invited to nominate worthy recipients.
So far £8,580 has been presented to 35 good causes.
