A MAN accused of murder told police: "I thought I stabbed the other guy."
Mark Haylock, 50, of no fixed address, is on trial at Winchester Crown Court.
He is accused of stabbing 29-year-old Nicholas Ormerod of Southbourne on April 7 last year.
The court has heard both men had been part of a group socialising in a flat on Sea Road in Boscombe.
The prosecution claim Haylock was 'roughly handled' by Ormerod and another man over missing pills.
The jury was this morning read a transcript of a police interview with Haylock after he was arrested.
He said he had been drinking around 10 cans of Kestrel lager a day at the time, and on that day he also had sherry and valium.
He told officers: "I thought I stabbed the other guy.
"I was a bit confused, I was a bit out of it.
"I was so angry I just lost it.
"Something just clicked in my head. I am very remorseful."
Haylock, who claims he acted in self-defence, denies murder.
The case continues.
