THREE people were arrested at a house yesterday after it was linked to a burglary the previous night.

Eight police cars and vans were sent to the semi-detached house on Alum Chine Road around 12.30pm.

Dorset Police said they had a report at 8.02am that a safe, television and other items had been stolen overnight from a residential property in Ophir Road, Charminster.

An anonymous member of the public then called at 12.03pm to report suspicious activity at the Alum Chine property.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “Three men were arrested at the house in connection with the burglary in Ophir Road.”

The house had been converted into several flats. Officers removed evidence bags and left carrying a battering ram though it was not clear if it had been used.

John, 45, from Kinson, who declined to give his surname, was working at Westbourne Conservative Club across the road.

He said: “I saw about three lads walk across the road and go down the back of the house and five minutes later the police started to arrive.

“There were no sirens. For a while they waited outside.

“Then they started to bring the lads out.

“One looked a young man and he had tracksuit bottoms.

“There was no drama and the police walked them to the vans.”
