WOMEN and girls from across Dorset have already pledged to help in the fight against cancer.
Places are filling up for Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life series this summer and organisers are reminding all those wishing to take part to sign up and guarantee a space in the popular fundraising event.
Two 5km races and one 10km run will be held along Bournemouth seafront on Sunday, June 17.
And two 5km events will be held in Poole Park on Sunday, June 24.
So far 995 of the 6,000 places for Bournemouth have been filled and 715 of the 3,500 places for Poole have been claimed.
Race for Life is a women-only series of events which raised millions of pounds every year for life-saving research into 200 types of cancer – helping men, women and children across the South West survive.
Rachel White, Cancer Research UK’s south events manager, said: “We have seen a fantastic response to Race for Life in Bournemouth and Poole with over 1,700 signed up to the events so far.
“It’s all of us versus cancer and I want to encourage the wonderful ladies of Dorset to sign up today. Please join the fight against cancer in 2012 and urge every friend, colleague and family member to make a difference with you.
“The awful fact is that every two minutes someone is told they have cancer – please sign up to walk, jog or run at your local Race for Life event and raise money to fund vital research.”
