THE manager of a travel agency limbered up for the London Marathon by running the same distance in and around the store.
Paula Barker, who has been in charge at Thomas Cook in Wimborne High Street for the last five years, undertook her 26.2 mile challenge to raise money for the company’s Children’s Charity.
Speaking before the event, she said: “We’ve got an Olympics weekend. I’ll be running through the store and I will go outside for a bit. I’m going to take it very gently – I just want to do the 26 miles – but when I actually do the London Marathon, I want to do under four hours.”
Paula, 44, is already the veteran of four London Marathons and two years ago raised £2,500 to fund a walking frame for a little boy with cerebral palsy.
“I love running and to raise the money is just fantastic because I see what a difference it makes,” she said.
