THE A31 has reopened after a collision and oil spill closed the road, causing delays to motorists this morning.
The westbound carriageway was closed following the incident between two lorries just before 5.10am, which resulted in an oil spill.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said the highways authority had called the gritters out due to the amount of diesel on the road making it slippery for other vehicles.
The road closure was put on at junction one of the M27 westbound and diversions put in place.
The road was expected to remain closed until at least 10.30am but complications arose after the vehicle being used to clear the spillage broke down.
