THEY bared nearly all for a good cause and now Parkstone Golf Club’s Calendar Girls have reaped their reward.

Tantalising glimpses of the sporting ladies around the Poole course, wearing little bar a pearl necklace, have helped sell 630 copies of the calendar and raised more than £6,500 for charity.

The glamorous girls handed over their well-gotten gains, which they divided equally between the Youth Cancer Trust, the charity supported by immediate past lady captain Cattrin Wickens (November) and current captain Margaret Addis’s charity the Jigsaw Appeal.

“This time the calendar girls have had the decency to keep their clothes on,” said Margaret, June’s Pimms-pouring pin-up, as she handed over cheques for £3,255 to charity representatives.

Alex Taylor, senior consultant at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital, got the “absolutely fantastic” cheque on behalf of the Jigsaw Appeal, which is raising £1.7million for a women’s health unit.

“We have raised £1m so far. This gives us another nudge towards our target,” he said.

James Keating, administration manager of the Youth Cancer Trust said: “We’ve a holiday home in Alum Chine and give holidays to young people with cancer from all over the UK. It will go to a very worthwhile cause.”

Photographer Stuart Cain of Apollo Studios in Bournemouth and the 12 ladies staged a cloak-and-dagger operation to dodge around the players on the course to take the tasteful snaps.

“It was great fun,” said Vera Mason, May’s model, who organised it along with committee member Jutta Cain, August’s lady in the lake, and thanked the Daily Echo for publicising and helping sell the calendar.

“There are more than 1,000 members and no one knew until we launched it at our AGM,” said Jutta.

Stuart added: “There was a lot of dashing on and dashing off with their clothes. There was a lot of misbehaviour.”

There was a resounding “no” when asked if they would do it again.

“It’s the men’s turn. But I’m not taking the photos,” said Stuart.
