BOURNEMOUTH Concert Brass will be competing in a competition later this year that takes place at the Royal Albert Hall.
The band competed in the Championship section of the West of England Brass Band Contest for the first time in five years of taking part in the competition. Seventy-nine bands battled it out to win one of just two places in the finals, which will see Bournemouth Concert Brass go to London in October.
Martin Collett, from the band, said: “The test piece chosen was The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by Derek Borgeois. It is a 16-minute piece especially written to challenge a band’s technique, ensemble work and stamina.”
The band is also celebrating after launching a new-look website, embellished with their new logo featuring the Bournemouth coat of arms crest.
